House of Reps Aspirant Alleges Rigging in Awka South NDC Primary
Awka, Anambra State Engineer Chukwuebuka Akubueze, who is contesting the House of Representatives seat for Awka North/South, has raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the NDC primary elections. He says the Awka North poll using Option A4 voting was peaceful and transparent, with videos showing large queues behind him. However, Akubueze alleges that the official result sheet was removed before stakeholders could review it. In contrast, he claims the Awka South primary was moved to a locked venue where many supporters were barred and his opponent, Professor Lilian Orogbu, had exclusive access. He was denied entry when he sought to observe. Akubueze is calling on NDC leadership and appeal committees to review all evidence, including video recordings, and ensure the final outcome reflects the true will of party members. He urged supporters to remain calm as the process is reviewed.
