Imo Police Debunk Rumour of Student Abduction at Owerri Girls’ School
The Imo State Police Command has denied reports that students were abducted from Government Girls Secondary School on Okigwe Road, Owerri. Spokesperson Henry Okoye described the claim as false and unfounded. A team led by ACP Abdullahi Wase visited the school, spoke with the principal, staff and students, and confirmed that everyone is safe. Academic activities continue without disruption. The command clarified that an early dismissal was due to an administrative meeting at the NUT Secretariat, not a security threat. Officers warn that spreading fake news is a criminal offence and offenders will be prosecuted.
