Supreme Court Sets Aside ADC Status Quo Order
The Supreme Court has vacated the Court of Appeal’s directive that maintained the African Democratic Congress in its pre-dispute state. A five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba ruled the Abuja Court of Appeal exceeded its jurisdiction when it issued the order after dismissing an appeal from one of the factions. The apex court partly upheld Senator David Mark’s appeal but dismissed his challenge to a Federal High Court ex parte service order. The case will return to the trial court for further hearing. Earlier, INEC had removed Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its portal as ADC chairman and secretary under the now-set-aside order.
