Scissors Left in Sister’s Abdomen: Media Influencer Demands Justice

Media personality Beady Nnanna recounts how her sister, 44-year-old Blessing Okolie, died after fibroid removal surgery at a Lagos clinic. The family alleges the surgeon left a pair of scissors inside her abdomen, leading to severe infection and eventual death. Despite persistent abdominal pain and swelling, the clinic refused repeated requests for a post-operative scan. A week later, an outside facility detected metal inside her ventre. Although the scissors were removed in a second operation, Blessing’s condition had already deteriorated beyond recovery. Beady reported the hospital to the police and is awaiting an autopsy and coroner’s inquest. She is calling for the investigation and closure of the facility to prevent further tragedies. OAR Medical Centre’s director asserts that complications stemmed from sepsis and advises waiting for the official inquest before drawing conclusions.
