Injury Setback: Plumptre Pledges Support After Missing Super Falcons WAFCON 2026 Squad

Ashleigh Plumptre has voiced her disappointment at being left out of Nigeria’s 25-player squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The defender has been sidelined since March after a foot injury while playing for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad Ladies. Despite still recovering, she took to social media to express her frustration at missing the tournament. Plumptre wrote that her body is “asking for more time,” but she’s fully behind her teammates and urges Nigerians to back the Super Falcons on their quest for a 10th continental title. The former Leicester City star made her first WAFCON appearance in 2022 and played a key role in Nigeria’s successful 2024 campaign.
