Kano Governor Alleges Ex-Deputy Plot to Seize His Office

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has accused his former deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, of scheming to remove him from power during a meeting with praise singers at the Kano Government House. Yusuf said he never received Abdussalam’s resignation letter and insisted his administration had not wronged the former deputy. He claimed the move was a direct attempt to usurp his position but was thwarted by divine intervention. The governor also criticised the Kwankwasiyya camp for sidelining long-standing members. He defended his recent exit from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, saying it was in the best interest of Kano residents and not an act of betrayal. Yusuf warned that emerging political actors are being favoured over loyal members. He said credible candidates are already showing interest in the vacant deputy governorship role and reaffirmed his commitment to serving until his term ends.

It's odd that the governor insists he never got a resignation letter yet alleges a plot. Something doesn't add up here.

This sounds like political mudslinging rather than solid evidence of a power grab. We should demand clearer proof before reacting.

A transparent inquiry into the resignation letter timeline and an independent fact-checking panel could help resolve confusion and ensure accountability.
