1 Corinthians 10: A Warning for Believers to Flee From Sin
Paul uses the Israelites’ journey from Egypt as a warning to believers. Though they experienced God’s deliverance, provision and guidance, many fell in the wilderness because they turned to evil practices and disobedience. According to 1 Corinthians 10, their example was recorded so that Christians would avoid lust, idolatry, sexual immorality, testing God and persistent complaining. Believers are urged to take heed rather than assume they cannot fall. Jesus also warned that calling Him “Lord” or performing works in His name is not enough for those who continue in iniquity. The message is clear: if I claim to be saved, I must flee from evil and live in obedience to God.
