Igabi APC Threatens Action Against Ex-Speaker Zailani Over Party Criticism

Igabi APC Threatens Action Against Ex-Speaker Zailani Over Party Criticism

The All Progressives Congress in Igabi Local Government has cautioned former Kaduna State House Speaker Yusuf Zailani over what it calls persistent attacks on the party. Party chairman Bashir Jibrin Jaji accused Zailani of making “unwarranted vituperations” after his primary defeat. Jaji insisted the primaries were fair, transparent and credible, giving all aspirants an equal chance to test their popularity. He warned that any member undermining party unity could face sanctions under the APC constitution. While welcoming constructive criticism, the Igabi APC urged Zailani to stop statements that could damage the party’s image. The leadership affirmed its commitment to dialogue and reconciliation but stressed that collective interest must come before personal ambition. Members across Igabi and Kaduna State were encouraged to stay calm, loyal and focused on future political engagements as the party works to strengthen cohesion.

What might drive the Igabi APC to publicly warn Zailani instead of resolving concerns privately within the party?

Their accusation of 'unwarranted vituperations' suggests a low tolerance for criticism rather than a genuine effort to address any real issues.

Dem should not assume Zailani's arguments lack merit; underestimating local criticisms could ignite bigger divisions within the party.

Perhaps the party should organise a listening forum for both leaders and grassroots members to air grievances and rebuild trust before tensions escalate further.
