Mourinho Explains How Real Madrid Broke Barcelona’s High Line

José Mourinho says Real Madrid used late runs from midfield to beat Barcelona’s high defensive line in Sunday’s El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Real Madrid manager said Aurélien Tchouaméni stayed deep to protect the defence, while Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham were instructed to attack the spaces behind Barcelona’s back line. According to Mourinho, Barcelona are prepared to catch conventional forwards offside and have goalkeeper Joan Garcia ready to sweep up through balls. He said midfield runners offered the best way to disrupt that structure. The win cut Barcelona’s lead at the top of La Liga to three points and extended Madrid’s winning streak to five matches in all competitions.
