Officers were called to the ground after an incident in the early hours of Monday. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation. Charlton Athletic said it is assisting police and expressed condolences to the man’s family and friends. The club also moved its Under-21 fixture against Bolton Wanderers from The Valley to its Sparrows Lane training ground because of the incident.
