EzeMaluKwuo: The Throne of Truth Beside the Crown

They called him EzeMaluKwuo, not because he wore a crown, but because he was king over truth. In markets and homes, he stood against lies, injustice, and fear. He taught us Igbo proverbs to guide our battles and keep our names pure. In his Onitsha stall, every word was weighed against honesty and respect. When his final call came, I donned his regalia and accepted my role. I took the name, the weight, and the covenant he left behind. His legacy demands comfort for the oppressed and fear for the corrupt. When the throne speaks truth, we agree. When it lies, we refuse.

It seems odd that someone without a crown was so widely called king of truth in Onitsha markets.

True, he taught proverbs, but did they really change minds, or simply reinforce what people already believed?

When facing dishonesty today, maybe recalling his measured words could help us stand firm and speak truth calmly.
