Helicopter Crash in Indonesian Jungle Kills Eight
A helicopter operated by PT Matthew Air Nusantara disappeared from radar minutes after take-off over West Kalimantan’s palm oil plantations on April 16. Rescue teams later found the wreckage in dense jungle near Sekadau district. All eight people on board – two crew members and six passengers – were pronounced dead at the scene. Among the victims was one Malaysian national, according to Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency and the Transportation Ministry. The bodies have been transferred to Pontianak for further investigation. Authorities are examining flight data and maintenance records to determine the cause of the crash.
