Nigeria missed the semi-finals for the first time in the competition’s history after losing 1-0 to Cameroon in the quarter-finals. The Falcons had earlier suffered a surprise 3-2 defeat to tournament debutants Malawi before recovering in their later group matches. Ordega said the team must prepare better for major competitions, especially with World Cup qualification at stake. Nigeria will now face South Africa in Casablanca, where victory is needed to reach FIFA’s inter-confederation play-offs later in the year.
