Queen Faces Ouster After Influencer Peller’s Unauthorized Benin Palace Visit

The Benin Traditional Council warns that a queen in the Oba of Benin’s palace may face removal after influencer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, known as Peller, entered without permission. The council called the incident a serious breach of protocol and a desecration of sacred grounds. On March 6, 2026, Peller and his entourage gained access to the palace without the required approval. Their actions caused significant embarrassment and disrupted the peace within the royal precincts. A chief linked to the event has been suspended, and palace staff member Mr Omuemu has been detained and charged for facilitating the entry. The council has launched disciplinary proceedings against the queen involved and has invited Peller before a committee of chiefs to explain himself. He has not complied. The council demands an unreserved written apology and warns that failure to do so could lead to legal action.
