Twin Sisters Die Days Apart After Sickle Cell Crisis in Yobe
Twin sisters, Hadiya Usman and Aidah Usman, have died days apart after battling sickle cell disease in Yobe State. Hadiya, a medical doctor completing her internship at the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, died on Friday after reportedly spending about a week in the hospital following a sickle cell crisis. Her sister, Aidah, worked as a pharmacist at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. Aidah was said to have received treatment and been discharged before she died on Sunday. The sisters were daughters of the Medical Director of FMC Nguru and were buried according to Islamic rites.
