Oyebanji Sweeps ADC’s Bejide in Ekiti South-West, His Home LGA

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the APC secured a decisive victory in Ekiti South-West Local Government Area, the home council of ADC candidate Dare Bejide. Official INEC results released early Sunday show the APC polled 14,705 votes. The PDP followed with 1,800 votes, while Bejide’s ADC finished third with 1,076 votes. Ekiti South-West LGA has 56,003 registered voters across 11 Registration Areas and 188 Polling Units. A total of 18,094 voters were accredited, and 18,046 votes were cast, with 17,693 valid and 353 rejected. Other parties recorded only marginal support, with ADP on 56 votes, AAC 22, SDP seven, and others in single or low double figures. The results underline the APC’s dominance and represent a setback for Bejide in his stronghold.

What factors do you think contributed to APC's decisive win over Bejide in his own home council area?

What specific data backs that margin? Do we have ward-level turnout or vote counts to confirm?

The APC's margin here looks unusually wide, especially given Bejide's local roots. Something about these results feels unexpected.

I get the focus on home advantage, but voters often respond more to party organization than a candidate's birthplace.

Local civic groups should push for clearer result breakdowns and hold awareness sessions so residents trust future elections.
