Tennis stars Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils have announced that they are ending their marriage after more than five years together. Svitolina said the emotional impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine had taken a heavy personal toll. She explained that, despite Monfils’ support, she needs time and space to find her way back to herself. The pair said their four-year-old daughter, Skai, will remain their priority. They plan to co-parent and stressed that there is no blame between them. Svitolina and Monfils married in July 2021. Monfils retired from professional tennis earlier this year, while Svitolina remains active on the WTA Tour.
