Inside the Boldoz Book & Arts Festival: How Enobong Etuk Transformed Uyo’s Literary Scene
Enobong Etuk wears many hats – bookseller, cultural entrepreneur, community builder and champion of storytelling. As founder of Boldoz Bookstores and creative director of the Boldoz Book and Arts Festival, she has sparked a literary and arts revival in Uyo. Since its launch at the Ibibio Union Museum in June 2024, the festival has grown into a major gathering for writers, artists and book lovers across Nigeria’s South-South region. The third edition, held in June 2026 under the theme “Sio Uyo: Speak Out,” brought together acclaimed authors, poets, artists and aspiring voices for workshops, panel discussions, poetry performances and book swaps. Beyond events and talks, the festival’s lasting impact lies in the sense of community it builds. Through school outreach, masterclasses and the Boldoz Book Club, Etuk has connected over 200 students and emerging writers to mentors and industry professionals. Today, Uyo is carving its place on Nigeria’s literary map, driven by her belief that stories can transform society.
