Alleged ISWAP Informant Nabbed in Monguno IDP Camp

Alleged ISWAP Informant Nabbed in Monguno IDP Camp — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Troops from Operation Hadin Kai arrested a man suspected of acting as an ISWAP informant at the Kuya IDP camp in Monguno on June 21, 2026. The operation was led by officers of the Sector 3 Military Intelligence Brigade working with OPHK. Information from a separate detainee at the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre guided them to the suspect’s residence. Security forces conducted a cordon-and-search as investigations continue. Authorities say this arrest is part of sustained, intelligence-driven efforts to identify and neutralise terrorist collaborators within civilian and displaced communities in the North-East.

While arresting suspected informants seems necessary, labeling someone an ISWAP informant without clear proof could unfairly taint innocent camp residents.

Regular security briefings for camp residents and an anonymous tip line could help identify and deter potential informants more effectively.
