NOA and NAWOJ Unite to Strengthen Civic Education Ahead of Elections
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reaffirmed its commitment to value reorientation and civic education. During a visit by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Director-General Lanre Issa-Onilu stressed the need for stronger collaboration to support democratic consolidation. Issa-Onilu highlighted NOA’s grassroots network of over 800 offices and its new Nigerian Identity Project under the National Values Charter. He noted plans to reintroduce Citizenship Studies in schools and boost indigenous children’s content to promote national culture and values. NAWOJ President Aishatu Ibrahim outlined joint initiatives, including nationwide training workshops, community outreach for women and youth, and civic education materials in local languages. Both agencies committed to coordinated media campaigns to ensure inclusive and informed voter participation. The partnership aims to counter digital and foreign influences, strengthen national cohesion, and prepare young Nigerians for their civic responsibilities in the upcoming elections.
