Stay Vigilant Against Satan’s Devices
“Be sober, be vigilant. Your adversary the devil prowls like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him firmly in the faith.” (1 Peter 5:8–9) We must watch carefully and guard our hearts. The enemy uses worldly distractions, error, and superstition to draw us away from Christ. It is not enough to avoid obvious dangers. We need to walk in self-denial and remain close to Jesus as we journey through enemy territory. Our time of preparation is short. God’s judgments are near, and we must be ready for eternal life. Let us dive deep into the Word and submit to His purifying work. He will cleanse us and make us fit to stand before His throne without fault. Let us pray: Father, thank You for Your Word and for guiding us today. Cleanse us, prepare us for the life to come, and strengthen us to testify of Your goodness. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our soon-coming King. Amen. Adapted from a Maranatha devotional.
