Why INEC’s Move Against the David Mark Faction Is Right – Dumebi Kachukwu

The Independent National Electoral Commission has withdrawn recognition of the David Mark-led committee after a court ruling. Many of you have asked for my reaction, so here it is. These ex-officeholders jumped from party to party with no ideology, hoping to use the ADC as a vehicle against President Tinubu and the APC. They planned to hike nomination fees five-fold, shutting out ordinary Nigerians and betraying the party’s grassroots spirit. Several court battles now head to the Supreme Court, and only a legal miracle can save this hijack. It’s clear these men conspired with the APC to make fools of us. But you can fool man, not God. Thank you and God bless.

What do you think drove INEC to withdraw recognition of the David Mark faction so quickly after the court ruling?

Absolutely, they probably wanted to nip any confusion in the bud before it spread nationwide.

Which factors do you think made INEC act faster than expected after that court decision?

It's interesting that the commission acted right after a court ruling, especially given the faction's history of jumping between parties without clear ideology.

I dey wonder if INEC's timing isn't politically motivated rather than purely legal.

Rather than arguing about who is right, maybe focus on how parties can establish clear policy platforms before joining coalitions.
