Kogi University Expels Six Students Over Alleged ₦10,000 Exam Rewrite Scheme

Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, has expelled six students over an examination malpractice case involving the alleged rewriting of a BOT102 examination at a lecturer’s private residence. The university said security operatives arrested the lecturer and some students on July 1 after receiving information about the alleged scheme. An investigation by the Examination Misconduct Committee reportedly found that the affected students paid ₦10,000 each to rewrite the Introduction to Plant Science paper days after the original examination. The Senate approved the students’ expulsion at its meeting on August 26, 2026. The lecturer has been referred to the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee for action under the institution’s regulations. The Senate also withdrew nine students for poor academic performance and failure to register for two consecutive semesters. The university said the decisions were intended to protect academic integrity and examination standards.
