Northern Coalition Accuses FG of Sidestepping North-West in ₦3.9tn Road Approval
The Coalition of Northern Groups has condemned the Federal Government for excluding all seven North-West states from the recent approval of 27 federal road projects worth over ₦3.9 trillion. It called the omission a betrayal of the region’s support for President Tinubu in the 2023 election. In a statement, the coalition argued this exclusion cannot be dismissed as an administrative oversight but reflects a growing pattern of neglect against key highways like the Kano–Kaduna–Abuja Expressway. It warned that commuters continue to face security challenges, accidents, and economic losses while other regions receive new multi-billion naira projects. The group held President Tinubu and senior North-West office holders responsible for the “complete exclusion” and demanded an immediate review of approved projects. It urged accelerated completion of existing expressways and inclusion of strategic roads in Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
