‘Read-and-Earn’ Platform Collapses, Investors Lose Billions

‘Read-and-Earn’ Platform Collapses, Investors Lose Billions — 1 of 3
1 / 3

The “National Reading Culture” app promised Nigerians big returns for reading short digital novels. Users paid VIP registration fees from ₦18,900 to ₦174,000 to access daily reading tasks and earn guaranteed income. The site has now shut down without warning and its operators have disappeared. Thousands of investors cannot withdraw their funds and face losses running into billions of naira. The platform was even promoted on national TV and backed by some church groups. One user lost over ₦2 million and still believes the site is only down temporarily. This crash should serve as a warning. Similar schemes will rebrand and resurface. We must stay vigilant and avoid falling for the same promises again.

Always research a platform's track record and user reviews before committing funds, especially when returns seem too good to be true.
