Wealth Doesn’t Equal Godliness: Open Heavens Devotional for June 14, 2026

Theme: Prosperity ≠ Godliness Memory Verse: “Charge them that are rich in this world… trust in the living God.” (1 Timothy 6:17) We read the parable of the rich fool in Luke 12:16–21. He stored up wealth for himself but neglected his relationship with God. True blessing comes when we use our resources faithfully and honour Him as our source. God loves to bless His children, yet material abundance is not the measure of a godly life. Like Abraham and Isaac, wealth can be a sign of blessing—but our true prosperity is in the soul. Focus on spiritual fruit, not just finances. Key Point: Material wealth is never proof of godliness. Cultivate your soul’s prosperity first.

When you speak of drawing the line, are you talking about time management or about keeping your motives spiritually aligned?

It's interesting that the devotional warns against hoarding wealth, yet most prosperity messages still push comfort. This one feels more balanced.

I'm not convinced that all wealthy believers neglect God; maybe some manage both wealth and faith responsibly.

Set aside a regular time for prayer before making financial decisions. That habit keeps material goals aligned with spiritual priorities.
