UN Backs Nigeria’s Response After Imported Ebola Case Is Confirmed
The United Nations has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to contain an imported Ebola Bundibugyo case and says it is ready to support the Federal Government. The patient, who recently travelled from Uganda, developed symptoms on October 7, sought care in Abuja on October 11 and tested positive on October 20. She is being treated in isolation. Health authorities have identified 44 contacts for monitoring. The UN said swift contact tracing, compliance with international health regulations and close coordination with the World Health Organization are vital to preventing further spread.
