Ogun Communities Demand Urgent Repair of Key Access Road
Residents of Oluwo, Abata and Ayilara communities in Abeokuta South LGA, Ogun State, are calling on government to repair the road linking Madojutimi to Ilugun via the Wole Soyinka access route. They also urged authorities to complete the only local health centre to boost primary healthcare services. The deplorable road forces journeys that should take minutes to last half an hour. Ajani Labulo, chairman of the Araromi-Oluwo Community Development Association, said residents have spent decades pleading for action and now fill potholes themselves during the rainy season. The poor condition hinders socio-economic activities and makes it hard for children to reach the nearby public primary school. Private lecturer Modupe Apanisile described the road as unbearable, saying many people park far from home and walk long distances. Resident Sobitan Adebayo added that pupils often miss classes whenever it rains. Others, like Ayinla Adeniyi, appealed for urgent intervention to improve transportation, education and healthcare access.
