Ezekiel 14: The Danger of Idolizing Our Desires
In my view, Ezekiel 14 offers a sobering warning in Scripture. Here God shifts from Healer to judge, exposing anyone who exalts ambitions, relationships or agendas in His place. Too often Christians treat God like a fortune teller, seeking confirmation for jobs or marriage while idols occupy the throne of their hearts. Ezekiel 14 shows that when we do this, God allows those idols to answer and the deception unfolds. True surrender means saying “Thy will be done” with open hands. We can bring our hopes and needs before God, but they must remain secondary to His will, not demands on His throne. Search your heart and ask: what truly sits on the throne? May we be vessels of honour whose deepest desire is to do the will of our King.
