She Called Me Stingy Over Dinner – Did I Overreact?

Good morning, everyone. Last weekend, I started chatting with a girl my cousin introduced on WhatsApp. On our first conversation, I asked what she had for dinner. She replied, “Do you want to buy me food?” I was shocked. I thought it was a simple question. I sensed red flags and let the chat die. The next morning, she sent a barrage of insults. She called me stingy and compared me to her ex, a Yahoo boy who used to spoil her. I was amused but annoyed. As a gentleman, I wanted to respond in kind, but instead I blocked her. When I told my cousin, he laughed and explained that her ex spoiled her until he went broke. Now I’m left wondering: did I handle this the wrong way?
