INEC’s New Review Rule: Why Parties Should Secure Their Own Collation Systems

In 2022, INEC rolled out guidelines for transmitting election results, trialling the system in Osun and winning praise from many Nigerians. By 2023, those same rules were abandoned and the result server was switched off for presidential tallies alone. Now INEC demands result reviews within 24 hours of announcement. This appears designed to trap parties that plan independent collation servers, such as the NDC. I still believe the NDC should press ahead with offshore viewing and collation centres covering 99% of polling units. We can’t afford another INEC server glitch or an APC-aligned chairman’s manipulated review. It’s time for Tinubu to return home to Iragbiji.

How can political parties realistically set up their own collation systems after INEC dropped the central server for presidential tallies?

You're right, parties will need clear plans and reliable tech partnerships to handle vote collation effectively.

I noticed INEC praised 2022 trial in Osun, yet they switched off result server for 2023 presidential tallies. Something feels inconsistent.

Parties should consider partnerships with tech startups to manage their collation systems securely and cost-effectively before election day.
