Kwankwaso Denies Aiding Tinubu, Urges Nigerians to ‘Be Wise’

In a BBC Hausa Service interview, NDC vice-presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso dismissed claims that he and Peter Obi are secretly working to boost President Bola Tinubu’s re-election. He described the allegations as baseless and quoted a Hausa proverb: “If the speaker is foolish, the listener must be wise.” Kwankwaso highlighted the Nigeria Democratic Congress’s rapid membership growth in under three months. He said he and Obi share development plans for education, agriculture, and human capital. He insisted he has never directed his supporters to attack other opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar, and blamed any tension on a few mischievous individuals. On his role as vice president, Kwankwaso said Obi assured him of meaningful responsibilities. He also affirmed his acceptance of the ticket to respect North–South power-sharing and expressed confidence that Obi will honour a one-term agreement.

It's interesting he quoted a Hausa proverb, but that rhetoric alone doesn't prove there's no covert alliance with Peter Obi.

Baseless claims or not, Nigerians have heard many denials before. Why should this one be any different from past spin?

We should focus on examining policy plans instead of chasing rumors about secret collaborations that distract from real campaign issues.
