Arsenal to Appeal Max Dowman’s Red Card After Fleetwood Cup Defeat
Arsenal will appeal the red card shown to 16-year-old midfielder Max Dowman during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Fleetwood. Dowman was sent off in the 85th minute after reacting to a challenge from Harrison Neal. His foot made contact with the Fleetwood player, and he was dismissed for violent conduct. The match ended 1-1 before Fleetwood won 5-3 on penalties. If the red card stands, Dowman could face a three-match suspension. It is the teenager’s second dismissal this month, following a red card while playing for England’s Under-19 side. Arsenal are already dealing with injuries to several wide players, including Bukayo Saka, Christos Tzolis and Noni Madueke.
