IAUE Says Campus Gunfire Was Targeted, Suspect Handed to Security Agencies
The management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has clarified reports of a gunfire incident on campus. It said preliminary findings indicate that the shooting was targeted at a suspected cultist, not sporadic as earlier reported. The university said the suspect was apprehended by a joint team of campus security personnel and OSPAC, then handed over to security agencies for investigation. It urged the public to avoid spreading unverified claims that could cause fear or tension. Management said it is strengthening security measures to protect students, staff and visitors. It also warned against politicising the incident and said anyone found responsible for threatening peace on campus would face the law.
