Why a Sex Talk at Church Made Me Uncomfortable
I have learned that discussions about sex easily draw attention, but I have never been comfortable sharing intimate details freely. That discomfort became obvious when my wife and I attended a church programme for married couples. The speakers offered useful advice, but the session on marital intimacy became more graphic than I expected. Some attendees openly shared bedroom experiences, while others debated what was acceptable between married partners. The room was lively, and many people seemed eager to contribute. I stayed quiet throughout. Seeing the conversation take that direction in church felt awkward to me, even though others found it helpful and entertaining. It made me wonder whether frank discussions about intimacy belong in religious settings, or whether some boundaries should remain.
