Romania Introduces Black Card to Stop Abuse at Youth Football Matches
Romania’s Football Federation has introduced a black card for youth matches to address abusive behaviour by parents and spectators. The measure applies to competitions involving players aged seven to 16. The card does not punish players. It allows a referee to permanently end a match when serious misconduct by adults continues after repeated warnings and a 10-minute suspension. The federation says the rule is designed to protect children from insults, excessive pressure, intimidation and physical confrontations. It wants youth football to remain safe, enjoyable and supportive of children’s development.
