Judgment Seat of Christ: A Believer’s Day of Reckoning
Scripture speaks of two final judgments. First is the Great White Throne Judgment in Revelation 20, where unbelievers face God’s wrath and those not in the Book of Life are cast into the lake of fire. The second is the Judgment Seat of Christ, or Bema Seat, reserved for believers. At this reckoning, our works are tested by fire. Gold, silver and precious stones represent enduring deeds, while wood, hay and straw become ash. Although believers are saved, only lasting works will bring rewards. This sobering moment reminds us to invest in eternal values. The tears in heaven may come not from sorrow over lost loved ones, but from regret over wasted opportunities and temporary pursuits.
