Akwa Ibom Police have confirmed that a woman died after a fire broke out at a residential building on Ikpa Road in Uyo. Police said the incident occurred in the early hours of July 20. The woman was reportedly at the residence with a male occupant, who escaped unharmed while she was trapped in the building. Social-media reports identify the victim as Purity and say she met the man, described as a DJ, at a nightclub. However, police said the deceased has not been formally identified and that efforts to establish her identity are ongoing.
