Eric Tinkler Says Poor Ghanaian Pitches Could Disrupt Kotoko’s Possession Football
Asante Kotoko coach Eric Tinkler says the condition of some football pitches in Ghana could make it difficult for his side to play the possession-based style he prefers. The former Bafana Bafana midfielder, who joined Kotoko in July, is preparing the club for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. Kotoko will open their campaign away to newly promoted Debibi United on September 6. Tinkler said the playing conditions differ from those he experienced in South Africa, but insisted his team must adapt rather than use the pitches as an excuse. He will now focus on building a side capable of competing despite the challenge.
