NEMA Activates National Flood Response Centre for 2026 Rainy Season
The National Emergency Management Agency has activated its National Emergency Operations Centre to coordinate flood preparedness and response across Nigeria during the 2026 rainy season. NEMA Director-General Zubaida Umar said the centre will provide round-the-clock monitoring, reliable information and coordination among disaster-management agencies. She said timely data is vital for early action, relief deployment and protecting vulnerable communities. The centre will track flood developments, support intelligence sharing and strengthen the national response to extreme weather emergencies throughout the season.
