Why Wealth Isn’t the True Measure of Godliness
Have you ever assumed that prosperity equals godliness? Wealth alone doesn’t prove a connection to God. In Genesis 4, Cain built a city after leaving God’s presence. A flourishing life can look impressive yet be spiritually cut off. God does bless His children with the ability to prosper (Deuteronomy 8:18). But true godliness is shown by the fruit of our character (Matthew 7:16), not by bank balances. Even Abraham and Isaac grew rich through God’s favour, yet their prosperity followed their faith. Jesus warned against storing up treasures for ourselves and ignoring our relationship with God (Luke 12:16-21). Real wealth is the prosperity of the soul (3 John 2), cultivated through faithfulness and heart purity (1 Peter 3:4). Focus on spiritual growth and stewardship. Let your life’s true measure be godly fruit, not material abundance.
