Olu of Ilaro Urges Men to Champion Women’s Protection and End Violence

His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro, has called on men across Yewaland to take greater responsibility for peace and the safety of women and girls. Speaking at the 5th Men-Only Townhall Meeting in Ilaro, Ogun State, he stressed that true leadership requires patience, discipline, and respect. Traditional rulers, religious figures, and community advocates agreed that protecting women is a shared duty. Speakers highlighted the need to reject all forms of violence and to speak out against abuse. They also underscored the importance of active fatherhood and strong family structures. The meeting concluded with a pledge to uphold four core values for men: protector, provider, kind and trustworthy, and spiritually responsible. Leaders committed to collaborative initiatives to strengthen families, safeguard women’s rights, and ensure that all cases of abuse are treated as legal matters. This townhall forms part of ongoing efforts to promote positive masculinity and build safer, more respectful communities in Ogun State.
