Could God and Satan Be Two Sides of the Same Power?
I have been re-reading biblical passages about God, Satan, suffering and punishment, and I think the usual Christian explanation leaves major questions unanswered. In Job, Satan appears before God and is permitted to test Job. In the account of David’s census, one passage attributes the incitement to God while another attributes it to Satan. The distinction between a divine “test” and satanic “temptation” also seems difficult to separate. Scripture presents God as sovereign over calamity, while Satan is often blamed for destruction and suffering. To me, this raises the possibility that the two figures may represent different faces of the same power, even if the Bible does not state this directly. I also question the popular image of Satan as the ruler of hell. Revelation describes the Devil as one who will be punished in the lake of fire, not as its manager. The idea of God as Father and Son, without a divine mother, also invites questions about how gender shapes religious imagination. These are my personal reflections on biblical narratives, not a claim that every Christian must accept them. How do you reconcile these passages?
