Imo Inaugurates 6,375 New Teachers and School Staff to Tackle Shortages

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has inaugurated 6,030 newly recruited teachers and 345 non-teaching staff into the state civil service. The recruits have been posted to public schools in their home communities. The state says the deployment is intended to ease teacher shortages and reduce the staffing gap between rural and urban schools. The governor said teachers’ salaries would be treated as a priority. He also announced plans to provide digital teaching devices, with selected teachers receiving tablets after biometric enrolment. Education officials said the recruitment followed a needs assessment across the state’s 27 LGAs and forms part of wider education reforms in Imo.
