Destined to Never Lack: Divine Favor or Built Foundations?
I’ve been thinking about the saying “God created some people to never lack.” It feels comforting, but real life in Nigeria shows clear differences. Some enjoy stability and access; others struggle to survive. We often turn to spiritual explanations—destiny, curses, attacks—when hard work doesn’t bring results. Yet if we believe in a just God, we must question the idea of fixed divine favoritism. Outcomes are shaped more by environment, access, and choices over time than by random assignment. Foundations laid by past generations—land, education, businesses, connections—play a major role. Believing “this is just how God made it” can stop us from asking questions and building solutions. When we see that destiny is influenced by structure and choices, we focus on what can be improved and changed. Happy Sunday, NaijaWorlders. May God’s love be with you all.
