Ogun State Police Arrest Six, Seize Rifles, Generators and Stolen Phones

Ogun State Police Arrest Six, Seize Rifles, Generators and Stolen Phones

Ogun State Police Command carried out intelligence-led raids in Abeokuta, Wasimi and Ibafo. Six suspects were arrested and multiple items recovered. Investigations led officers of the Violent Crime Response Unit and SWAT to seize a pump-action rifle, a locally made pistol, ammunition, five generators and nine Android phones believed stolen. One suspect linked to a generator theft ring guided detectives to two other alleged members and a motorcyclist who ferried stolen goods. In a separate operation, a 58-year-old man was arrested for unlawful arms possession after police found two live cartridges and a rifle. Detectives also disrupted a vehicle-parts theft network in Ibafo, recovering a forklift engine component and tyres. All suspects will face charges when investigations conclude.

Do we know if these arrests target key crime hubs or just low-level suspects in Abeokuta?

It's interesting they seized a pump-action rifle, pistol, ammo and phones. Intelligence-led raids are promising, but record-keeping on recovered items matters too.

Arrests alone don't solve gang networks; sustainable community engagement and social programs are often overlooked in Crime Command strategies.
