Why Our Governors Build Churches and Mosques Instead of Factories
Many citizens lament that state governors invest in churches and mosques rather than setting up factories. At first glance, this seems unfair and even suggests religion is used to control people. When a government builds a church or mosque, it hands over upkeep to the community. Believers maintain these buildings at no extra cost to the state. A state-run factory, on the other hand, often suffers from nepotism, overemployment and political pressure to sell goods too cheaply. The government ends up pouring funds into an unprofitable enterprise. It’s more effective for government to create the right conditions for private industry than to own factories directly.
