China Showcases Smart Farming and Rural Revival to African Journalists

China Showcases Smart Farming and Rural Revival to African Journalists

Journalists from across Africa visited China’s Ningxia region to learn about technology-driven agriculture and rural revitalisation. The seminar was organised by the International Department of the Communist Party of China under the theme “Promoting the Building of a China-Africa Community with a Shared Future for All Seasons in the New Era.” At Minning Town, participants observed modern poultry breeding, feed production and a high-tech agriculture park. The national enterprise has invested over 500 million yuan, created more than 400 jobs and boosted logistics, crop production and supporting industries. In the Minning Hemei e-commerce workshop, journalists saw how livestream sessions and online platforms connect farmers directly with consumers. The digital model drives rural entrepreneurship and expands market access. The visit also included a community centre offering healthcare, cultural activities and services for vulnerable groups. The tour provided practical insights into China’s approach to combining technology, agriculture and community-based development for poverty reduction.

While the seminar highlights modern tools, relying solely on imported models might ignore local crops, climates, or community traditions.
