ASUU President Commends UNIOSUN VC as Olorode Demands Better University Funding
ASUU National President, Prof. Christopher Piwuna, has praised UNIOSUN Vice-Chancellor Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye for prioritising staff welfare and the development of the university. At UNIOSUN’s second annual lecture, labour activist Prof. Omotoye Olorode called for stronger university autonomy, improved funding and full implementation of agreements between the Federal Government and university unions. Olorode said repeated failures to honour the agreements have fuelled industrial disputes, weakened infrastructure and encouraged academics to leave Nigeria. He maintained that public education should be treated as a public good, not commercialised. Adebooye said UNIOSUN had implemented the 2026 Federal Government-ASUU agreement and paid the related arrears. He added that the Osun State Government had approved implementation of agreements with other university staff unions.
