Okpebholo Awards Edo Queens ₦50m for NWFL and WAFU-B Titles
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has announced a ₦50 million reward for Edo Queens FC after the team won the 2025/26 Nigeria Women’s Football League and the 2026 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League. The governor announced the reward during a trophy presentation ceremony at the Government House in Benin. The money will be shared among the players and officials of the team. Edo Queens won the WAFU-B title after drawing 2-2 with Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies before prevailing 4-1 on penalties. Okpebholo praised the players, goalkeeper, coaches and technical crew for their resilience, while the Edo Sports Commission described the double triumph as a major achievement for the state.
